Welcome Back

August 1, 2015

Dear West View Students and Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the beginning of another great year at West View Middle School! It takes everyone involved; students, parents, teachers, and administration working together so that students are afforded the support needed to become lifelong learners.

Students at West View have experienced academic success through focusing on the basics. Your teachers and administration are dedicated to challenging each child. The devotion of the faculty and staff will ensure that each child receives a quality education. With the students’ interest in mind, together we will ensure that every child is a winner.

Time on task greatly impacts students’ academic success. We stress good attendance. Classes begin at 8:00 and are on-going until 3:00. We ask that students promptly arrive at school, and are not checked out early. This devotion to time on task ensures that students receive quality instruction without interruptions.

Student learning increases in an environment that is safe, has structure, and allows for open communication between parent, teacher, and administrators. Part of the formula for success is that students need to be very familiar with the school’s expectations. We have included these on the following pages. Please read these and discuss them with you child or children.

During this school year you will notice a few changes to your child’s schedule. This year we will only have a six period day with hour-long classes. Another change will be the lunch periods will not begin for students until 11:15. The time for each lunch will remain the same at thirty minutes.

My door is always open should any parent or child have any questions or concerns. By working together, we will make West View great!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rebekah Patrick, Principal
